Project#4 :Prototyping and Evaluation

Image
Introduction This prototype was developed focusing on designing a user-friendly integrated library system that simplifies how the users search, borrow and reserve library facilities. The goal of this prototype is to demonstrate how effective this proposed interface design and interaction principles can enhance overall user experience in a digital library system. Usability testing for the proposed Integrated Library Interactive System was conducted in several sessions with different users. Each session was carried out at a suitable location chosen by the participant to ensure a comfortable testing environment. The prototype was tested using an iPad for all the task. Screen recording with audio was used to capture users’ interactions with the prototype and their thinking-aloud feedback during the tasks. Testing responsibilities were divided among group members as follows: Testing for Educator was handled by Lau Zhi San Testing for Freelancer was handled by Koh Zi Qian Testing for Parent...

Project #2: Establishing Requirements

Image
Group 4: Hydrochloric Acid [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE FULL REPORT] This post presents our requirement analysis for the Integrated Library Interactive System (ILIS). It outlines user analysis, task analysis, and some derived design requirements based on user observations. Our Target Users Freelancers often rely on public spaces as alternative workplaces, and the library becomes one of the most suitable options due to its quiet environment and free access to resources. They frequently make use of study rooms and discussion rooms for client meetings, virtual calls or focused work sessions. In addition, freelancers may refer to books, journals or other library materials to support their professional tasks. They value efficiency, quick access to information and a smooth facility booking process. As such, they expect a system that provides fast navigation, clear availability indicators, and minimal steps to complete their tasks. Educators regularly use the library to search for teaching ...

Project #1: Project Proposal

Image
Problem Most public libraries still rely on partially separate systems for managing resources, facilities and academic publications. Students often face difficulties when trying to check book availability, reserve study rooms, or access and publish journals. Although the library uses a digital system for staff operations, it lacks direct interactivity for students. The major issue is the book borrowing, renewing rental period and room booking process . Only library staff can access the system. Users can’t check the availability of the books and rooms on their own. When users wish to borrow books or reserve the room, they must go to the library for enquiry. In addition, academic journal access and publication are managed through a separate platform. This separation forces students and researchers to switch between systems to access or submit journals, making the experience fragmented and time consuming. Overall, the lack of integration between book management, room booking and journa...
